Andra Emilia Fenton was born in Mexico City. She was a Fiction Fellow at The City University of New York’s Graduate Center and has published essays, poems, and short stories in Canada, Ireland, the U.K., and the U.S.
She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and won FOLIO’s Nonfiction Editor’s Prize. Her work was selected by members of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses as recommended reading for Hispanic Heritage Month. She participated in Tin House’s Winter Workshop in 2024 and will be in residence at Yaddo in 2025.
Andra Emilia’s illustrations have been featured in print and online publications and used in product packaging design. Her first illustrated chapbook, Bird in a Rib Cage, was published in 2021.
