Andra Emilia Fenton was born in Mexico City. She was a Fiction Fellow at The City University of New York’s Graduate Center and has published essays, poems, and short stories in Ireland, the U.K., and the U.S. 

Her essay, Tectonics, was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2021. Motherlands won FOLIO’s Nonfiction Editor’s Prize in 2022. The Language of Bodies was chosen by members of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses as recommended reading for Hispanic Heritage Month in 2023.

Andra Emilia’s illustrations have been featured in print and online publications and used in product packaging design. Her first illustrated chapbook, Bird in a Rib Cage, was published in 2021.
